GWENIFER RAYMOND - POSTPONED
This event was previously scheduled for 07/04/2021, but will now take place on 26/05/2021.
After a spell-binding London debut at a fully packed Shacklewell Arms earlier this year, Gwenifer Raymond returns to the capital for the launch of her second album Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain at the iconic Islington Assembly Hall.
The release of Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain has been highly anticipated after Gwenifer’s debut album, You Were Never Much of a Dancer, received critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian. While Gwenifer’s debut saw the exploration of American primitive music, this second album draws on her childhood in Wales and shapes old memories of tall, spooky trees against grey skies, and the rattling of glasses on the kitchen table from passing coal trains, into music. As Gwenifer says herself, “landscape does a lot to shape a community’s folk music and I have tried to take something of Welsh folk horror to make my own ‘Welsh primitive.’” Listeners who enjoyed her unmistakable virtuosity on the guitar and banjo, as well as the adventurous musical journey her debut album traveled through, can expect nothing less from this new release.
In order to ensure the comfort and safety of audience members during the live show, Islington Assembly Hall will open it’s doors to a very limited capacity and will be following all necessary safety precautions. If postpone of the show becomes necessary, all tickets bought will automatically be valid for 10th February 2021.
Earth Cruises donates 10% of profit from all shows to carefully selected causes. Gwenifer has chosen Client Earth, a charity that uses the power of the law to protect the planet and the people who live on it.
