Manu Delago will be bringing his brand album and live show to the Islington!
This new music builds on an illustrious few years for Manu Delago, whose ambitious second album ‘Silver Kobalt’ came out in April 2015. Winning over diverse tastemakers from BBC 6Music’s Tom Ravenscroft and Don Letts to Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum (who snapped him up for a live Maida Vale session), Alex Lester and Nitin Sawhney, the LP also gained props from the likes of i-D, Clash and DJ Mag; the Silver Kobalt Tour boasted over 80 thrilling live shows with his band, Manu Delago Handmade. Meanwhile, the Austrian prodigy also managed to maintain his busy schedule of engagements as a go-to musician for some of the world’s leading artists: recording and playing live with Björk, drumming on tour with The Cinematic Orchestra and collaborating ever more closely with Anoushka Shankar. Having co-written Shankar’s recent ‘Land Of Gold’ LP, Delago is also a key band member on her ongoing world tour, which has taken in iconic concert halls, festivals and even Spain’s spectacular Alhambra Palace.
The world’s best known Hang player, Manu Delago has had over 5 million YouTube views and was heavily featured in BBC Radio 4’s recent documentary on the instrument. While his last album saw him diversifying with multiple layers of synths, electronic production and a wide range of instruments, ‘Metromonk’ sees him restoring his virtuosic Hang playing to centre stage among a minimalistic palette of beats and acoustic sounds, distilling and delicately exploring extremes of dynamics and mood.
Manu’s live performances are a spellbinding blend of virtuosic instrumental performances and cutting edge electronics. DO NOT MISS OUT.
